The 2nd CCBC Celebrity Golf Classic was a huge success!

The CCBC Celebrity Golf Classic weekend was held over February 10-11th in beautiful Palm Desert. The tournament supported both increased job creation, trade and investment in Riverside County and the programs and services of the Rehabilitation Foundation for Disabled Persons, US, a subsidiary of March of Dimes Canada. It was a fantastic event that raised funds for programs and services benefitting children and adults living with disabilities.

Many celebrities took to the links at the stunning Desert Dunes Golf Club, including World Wrestling Champion Wrestler Bret 'The Hitman' Hart, NHL Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille, National Hockey League star Dennis Hull, former Major League Baseball player turned actor, most recently seen in “Moneyball” Royce Clayton, actor Jeremy Sumpter, best known for “Peter Pan” & “Friday Night Lights” and Owen Stanley, former National Football League and Canadian Football League player Singor Mobley, actors Kate Linder and Howard Dell of "The Young and The Restless", past winner of  "The Apprentice" Stefanie Schaeffer, Canadian actress Sheila Shah of "Saw V" and more.

A reception and dinner were held at the gorgeous Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs. The dinner was ably hosted by comedian Frazer Smith, and guests had the chance to bid on fantastic silent auction items, and hear Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart’s moving, personal story of his recovery from a catastrophic stroke, moving him to become involved with March of Dimes Canada. Attendees also had the chance to sample vintages from Bure Family Wines, generously donated by former NHLer Val Bure, who now crafts high-end quality wines from his own vineyard.

"The CCBC is all about partnerships," says Lee Fraser, President. "We were blessed to work with so many fantastic partners on this event, March of Dimes Canada, the 35+ committee members, the Advisors and Board Members who make up the CCBC, our many volunteers, the sponsors, business partners, Desert Dunes Golf Club, the Riviera Hotel and Riverside County – all worked hard to ensure that this was a successful event," he continues.

The weekend offered an opportunity for relationship-building and networking with celebrities, business leaders and various Canadian and American economic development agencies from both sides of the Canada U.S. border who are interested in growing their business through the opportunities that are presented by a gathering of stakeholders with similar interests and goals gathering together around a great cause.

"We could not be more grateful to the CCBC and our sponsors for hosting this weekend," says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for the Rehabilitation Foundation for Disabled Persons, US, a subsidiary of March of Dimes Canada. "The funds raised will help us expand our programming in Western Canada, helping more children and adults with disabilities to lead fuller, more independent lives."

The Tournament was sponsored and partnered with: RBC Wealth Management, Trowbridge Professional Corporation, Roger Dunn Golf Shops, Pacifica Partners Capital Management, Cardinal Point Wealth Management, Province of British Columbia, Quebecois a Los Angeles, AMG Medical Supplies, Cadee, Canadians in Orange County, Candiego.Org, The Canadian Expat Network, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Monster Energy, Imperial Toy, Pook Toques, Yogen Früz, The C100, Desert Dunes Golf Club, Bure Family Wines, Canadians Abroad – the Country of Riverside and The Government of Canada.

The 3rd CCBC Celebrity Golf Classic has already been scheduled for March 2, 2013, in what is sure to be an even bigger and better event.
