Rock for Dimes Edmonton was a huge success!
On Sunday, September 21, 2014, nine bands took to the stage at On The Rocks and raised $8,000 for Edmonton residents with physical disabilities and local peer support groups. A crowd of over 250 people took in the battle of the bands fundraiser, which was held for the second year in Edmonton.Josh Sahunta Band, A Hundred Years, Rob Taylor Project, Stephanie Harpe Experience, Basler, Keylation, True North, Hungry Hollow
and Bad Communicators
provided the evening's amazing entertainment. Brennan McFaul, Patrick Henri and Cam Hewson were the judges, and local actor and comedian Sheldon Elter was the fantastic host.Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart
, the spokesperson of March of Dimes Canadas’ Stroke Recovery Canada®
program made a special guest appearance to the delight of his many fans. The Honourable Naresh Bhardwaj, Associate Minister - Services for Persons with Disabilities discussed the importance of disability support in Edmonton.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s
programs and services for children and adults with disabilities, including funding for local peer support groups and Aphasia Camp programming. Rock for Dimes was followed by an Opening Doors for Accessibility conference, aimed at showcasing local community supports for residents with disabilities, their caregivers and loved ones.
It was a very close contest, but Bad Communicators
was declared the 2014 winning band.
