Rock for Dimes Halifax
The Rocky Horror Halloween Bash took over the Cunard Centre at the seventh annual Rock for Dimes battle of the bands fundraiser!

On Thursday October 25, 2012, Halifax’s best legal musicians took up their instruments to battle for the title of "Halifax's Best" and raise much-needed funds for Nova Scotians living with physical disabilities. Over $30,000 was raised at the event, adding to the $120,000 already raised at this annual event in Halifax.

This year's costume-musical theme for the “two stages” event was a Rocky Horror Halloween Bash. Guests came dressed in their best and spookiest costumes as the Cunard Centre was transformed into the city’s best Halloween party.

Gene, The Goldilocks Effect, Terminal Road, Red C and Project 501 competed at the event, at the same time showcasing their talents to music industry professionals. Coast Arts and Food Editor Stephanie Johns and Q104’s Anna Zee were tapped as judges and Q104’s Tom B pulled double duty as judge and the evening’s MC.

It was an extremely close contest, but Terminal Road emerged as the winner for the second straight year.

“Terminal Road is thrilled to have our second win at the Battle of the Bands this year and to be part of such an amazing event with so many incredibly talented musicians and hard working volunteers for such a worth while cause. Thank you March of Dimes!” says Lauren Scaravelli of Terminal Road.

Rock for Dimes Halifax benefits March of Dimes Canada's Conductive Education (CE) Nova Scotia Program, an innovative program that blends elements of education and rehabilitation to improve the independence, mobility and confidence of children with disabilities, and has proven especially beneficial to children with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and developmental apraxia.

Tammy Chiasson, mother of CE participant Alex, moved the crowd with her words of how much the program has meant to her family.
